EP134 DIY Bike Rack Made Out of Iron Pipes

This DIY Bike Rack is made out of black iron plumbing pipes. The structure is made out of ¾” pipes screwed together and the bike hanger is made by cutting a large pipe fitting and then gluing in a piece of felt with Krazy Glue Gel. For more information on this project and other modern DIY projects go to HomeMade-Modern.com

This DIY Bike Rack is made out of 3/4" black iron pipes. I got the majority of the pipes and fittings from Home Depot with the one exception being the large T-fitting that i got from McMaster. I used an angle grinder to cut this large fitting and then I used Krazy Glue Gel to glue a piece of felt to the inside of the cut pipe fitting. I like this design because it transfers the weight of the bike down to the floor. That being said I still would recommend using a stud finder to make sure that the screws go into the structure of the wall. I made a simple version and a version that has shelf for storing accessories.

The bike is from a company called Linus.

I got these from the plumbing aisle of Home Depot. I used ¾” pipes but ½” would also work.

This fitting can be hard to find. I got mine through the link above.
