WARNING!

Working with electricity is dangerous. This project is a demonstration of how to design your own lamp but all electrical tasks should be performed by a professional electrician. This DIY dimmable lamp is made out of copper pipes; we experimented with two different ways of making this light dimmable. We used a traffic cone and Quickrete 5000 concrete mix to make a heavy base for this DIY copper floor lamp.

DIMMABLE OPTION 2:
For this version we wanted to showcase these cool LED bulbs that have a nice steam punk aesthetic and use a Leviton switch to make it dimmable. We installed a dimmable switch in the room that leads to the receptacle that the lamp is plugged into. This option gives us the flexibility to use an old fashioned looking bulb but still be able to dim it.

For a previous version we used a WiZ Wi-Fi Connected Smart LED Light Bulb, a plastic globe from Home Depot and 3" copper reducer coupling and then were able to control the bulb from a smart phone.
